The other day I was in conversation with a friend, almost after a gap of 6 years.
If you look back, 6 years ago was the year 2020, many may require a reminder of its collective significance in our lifes.
Every family must have been affected one way or the other. It was a global affair with nobody really knowing the truth. Fear had gripped us humans, many died, others lost their dear ones, a situation similar to that had happened a hundred years ago, year 1920, spanish flue.
The best part was all relgious heads and agents went underground. The number of people reporting sick, except covid patients, came down drasticaly. The polution level came down, we could see the Himalayas from Bangalore. The birds found less human beings and automobiles on the road to shit on.
English Words like quarantine, covid, corona, social distancing, physical distancing, curfew, hand sanitizer, masks, gloves, vaccine, lockdown etc were on the tip of the lips of every non english and english speaking person.
Humanity rose above everything, to deal with the situation. We had no source of certanity to know when this would end, the astrologers also went missing. As monthe passed by, the fear and anxiety subsided and we are under the impression we are absolutely free from covid, though it exists, I am sure, under a lesser reputation.
The only TV channel, Doordarshan, quiet and serene, became our source of information wondering why we changed camps all these years. I thought we will not go back to the other channels. There were plenty of learnings, the important one was nature do not require humans, be humble and bow to the nature, cut your greeds and be thankful to it for the accommodation provided.

We fell asleep in one world, and woke up in another.
Suddenly Disney is out of magic,
Paris is no longer romantic,
New York doesn’t stand up anymore,
the Chinese wall is no longer a fortress, and Mecca is empty.
Hugs & kisses suddenly become weapons, and not visiting parents & friends becomes an act of love.
Suddenly you realise that power, beauty & money are worthless, and can’t get you the oxygen you’re fighting for.
The world continues its life and it is beautiful. It only puts humans in cages. I think it’s sending us a message:
“You are not necessary. The air, earth, water and sky without you are fine. When you come back, remember that you are my guests. Not my masters.”

Except for those who lost their dear ones, most of us are out of it leaving the emotions behind and breaking most of our resolutions made during the state of emergency of 2020. Arent we back with wars, hatred, politics, greed and development towards destruction, remember we are not wanted.
