Okay Prime Minister

All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten says Robert Fulghum, things  like . Share everything. . Play fair. . Don’t hit people, Put things back where you found them.  Clean Up , Don’t take things that aren’t yours.
Say you’re SORRY when you HURT somebody and few more

However, we need those learning to be reminded, every now and then.

The situation is so desperate in our country that a person no less than the Prime Minister has to appeal and remind us the fundamentals. Excellent suggestions by him,  as follows :-

  • Don’t throw garbage on the roads/streets.

Yes, PM, we need help. The corporation should provide sufficient garbage bins and have a good disposable system. Today, you have them at many places and they are overflowing. You have dogs and cows, feeding  themselves from them and spreading it all around. Then you have the open garbage trucks, by the time they reach their destination (unknown), they are half full, distributing on to the road at every turning and humps, across the city. Root cause of this inefficient operation is corruption.

  • Don’t spit on roads and walls.

Yes, PM, we need spittoons, may be near the dustbins. It must be the weather, for many of them,  I think, that creates the compulsion to spit . No excuse for spitting on  walls, make it a punishable offense or charge a heavy penalty. What about urinating ? No less offensive, however the compulsion may be more than spitting,

Pay to use services, public toilets  are there in many locations in the city, in the midst of heavy traffic where there is no parking available. This public nuisance performers, stops their Merc or  BMW, when ever they get a signal (not traffic signal) and let go on the roadside, its not just the pedestrians. Some of them are dressed in white, I wonder who they are…

  • Don’t write on walls and currency notes.

Yes PM, writing on walls are done mostly by the political party workers, specially during the elections. This address should be more focused towards, you know who. I saw, a small writing on the wall, “please do not urinate here “. A smart alec has replied below that “OK”.

Writing on currency notes has become a habit for noting down. This awareness has to be spread because not many understand the devaluation it causes.

  • Don’t abuse and insult others

No, PM, this is the toughest point in the list. Its done by most of them, your self is a victim of the opposition as seen during the elections, wish your party had set a good example by not retaliating in public and media. This has to be implemented from the top.

  • Save water and electricity

Yes PM, this has to be reminded through media, talks, documentaries and also, how ?

  • Check your toilet for leaks. …
  • Stop using your toilet as an ashtray or wastebasket. ….
  • Take shorter showers. …
  • Install watersaving shower heads or flow restrictor …
  • Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. …
  • Turn off the water while shaving
  • And many other ways…
  • Plant a tree

Yes PM, this has to be done in an organized way, with full participation of citizens.

  • Follow traffic rules

Yes, PM, fine or no fine, this has to be built into the character. Heavy fine, hope fully can be a deterrent or increase corruption, we have to wait and see. Today’s culture is, if there is no cop around, shall we..

Accidents are not due to breaking of rules only, the road conditions play a big role. In cities and B towns, narrow roads, potholes, construction works of flyovers, Metros, traffic density, cows, dogs and N number of  reasons. The authorities have to be accountable for poor planning and mantenance not just the man on the street.

  • Take care of your parents and grand parents, take their blessings & always respect them

Yes PM, this has to be life rule and duty.

  • Respect women

Yes, PM. It should be extended to every human, care for all living beings  and nature

  • Give way to ambulance

Yes,PM. I have hardly seen anybody, NOT trying to give way to ambulance. Many times they have no way to give, such is the traffic condition.

We have got to change ourselves and not the country. Once we change ourselves the country will automatically change

If we want our kids to live in a clean and safe environment then pledge to follow these in your everyday life.

No leader can change the country, it’s you & me who can change our beloved nation by changing ourselves

Very inspiring, PM. This should be drilled into the mind of the kids as part of the curriculum in the school, in every class, every year. They will change their parents and the corrupt, we can have a great nation.

  2. We have a long way to go, perhaps 10 years or about, but whatever the PM has suggested are essential for our country to survive. I have hopes on the younger generation, especially school children,to whom it may be easy to add these values.

      1. Excellent. Every item is so well brought out with appropriate illustrations. Let us hope one day our country will be free of all these nuisance.

  3. super! Suupur! SUUUper! there many others as well to be cared! By one and all! As you hit it has to come Naturally! Ex- Parking in the right place! Loudest speakers and what not! We have do it to be followed by others! Thanks! Some day we will reach the goal! positive thinking

  4. Rajendra, Another master piece from you. What the general observation by me are these issues have been raised at Prime Minister level. As such it will percolate to lower levels. Lots of shortcomings are there to implement each and every issue. The reason no importance was given to discipline from the day we got independence. On the contrary law breakers were at advantage than the law followers. Corrupts were always had upper hand than the honest. This has increased the population of law breakers and corrupts. Teaching in schools (institution for building moral, character, principle) is par below standard and it is going down day by day including private institutions. We need an overhaul of each and every system. To implement anything you need well studied thoughts and planning. For example to plant a tree at road side it should be almost at the end of road width-wise so that while broadening of road the trees are not hacked. Foot path should be properly leveled. etc. etc.

  5. Excellent. You have covered all the major issues related to daily routine of citizens in the country.

One thing I have observed is that average waste generation by an Indian is much more than international average. This is true while travelling in train also. Inspite of frequent cleaning, waste accumulates very fast

  6. Why shud somebody tel us how to live like civilised human beings. We shud inculcate all the said things in our day to day lives. Great blog sir.

  7. these are some essential qualities of persons to be called as human .beings. Dharma shastras. proclaim these, but where is the time to understand let alone follow the dharma . Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah .

    1. Fantastic piece of article Rajettan…How I wish all the points mentioned in this is turned into a reality…I agree that this should be made a compulsory part in the school curriculum. So the younger generation will atleast be groomed in the right path and probably their parents{ Places where there is scant exposure to education} can learn from their children too….Strict punishment is also need of the hour to offenders
      Vijay

      1. The Prime Minister has brought out some essential points to the forefront, which I am in favour, which is a should for cleanliness and growth. I have relayed it
