coffee with Sambar

I am no writer, though I have a blog and posted around 190 or so posts, since 2009. Of late, I have been posting an article at the end of every month. The purpose is to connect and express, not impress. An average of 250 of readership, all because you like me , not 1necessarily my, posts. It’s an opportunity to have an audience , for me to say something uninterrupted. I have been an hesitant ɓeginner to write, reason, poor in English as per standards. The conversational style of writing was the work around, where I overcame my grammar deficiency and gave passmark for my language.
I have a personal commitment to no one that before 12 pm on the last day of the month I shall publish my talk.It may take an hour, generally in one sitting, I see faces of many of my readers while writing. It is like talking to you. It is a great feel, once the publishing happens, returning home happy after meeting some wonderful people. Thank you.

This month I am in Dubai, daughter gave birth, a brother for her one year old daughter. It’s as a grandparent you notice the beauty of a little one, of course you miss that with your own child, busy running your life. The situation is delicate, the one year old needs special attention, it knows the new arrival have encroached into her world which she thought was her’s only.

The elder one is very choosy, starts crying when she doesn’t accept a new face. There’s a relative in spite of many meetings is on her rejection list since an year. They see people with a third eye.
I was one in her disapproved list. That became a challenge for me, I had lot of work to do before I can start to contribute to the family. It took nearly a month for me to get accepted by her, just in time, coinciding with her brother’s arrival. Now, it’s all fine, we are sleeping partners.

I am having the best job of my career, grandfather to three children in 4 years from my 2 daughters. I was under the impression that the best part of your career is retirement. Retirement is wonderful. It’s doing nothing without worrying about getting caught.
The other day I was chatting with my friend about old age and retirement when he said
“You know you’re getting old when your birthday cake is a fire hazard “.
Finally we concluded, Old age is a heck of a lot better than the alternative. Only the age is old, the mind is young, enjoy.

“hey, in Dubai, what places have you visited”
“Ì have a beautiful world at home, the only place we visit are clinics for checkups, and during those outings we have eat outs”
” In one of the restaurant, we had Dosa and coffee, the coffee had sugar beyond limits, their gesture of love for customer”
“My daughter suggested, why don’t you have the sambar ( the one we got with dosa) along with the coffee. I did it and enjoyed, avoiding wastage. Coffee with sambar, I am patenting the discovery, so please don’t try it”.

  1. I liked it is very much directed at yourself but, you know what, it’s pretty much the same for all of us that are retired and are grandparents. 😁😁❤️💯

  2. I love your conversational and self deperecating style of writing. Keep it up.
Incidentally me and Kamala are visiting Dubai from 8 th November for two months. if youare still around we should catch up

  3. Try going to a kids school (as a teacher)- you would see an extension of your grandchildren population, find many curious friends, feel the induction of energy, and end up learning a few things 😊

  4. A very pleasing and simple item to enjoy.Believe, the younger ones are keeping you busy, and all are doing well. Thanks RajenRamachandran
