I passed 2 seats, so far vacant and deposited my B in the window seat. Looked out into the darkness, partially dark since a few lights illuminated a few areas here and there, pushed my backpack under the seat in front. Its around 4 hours flight to Abu Dhabi.
A lady, in case you are wondering, yes she was pretty, stood near my row, looked at me and down at her boarding pass, asked is this 4 D, touching the aisle seat. I said, Yes.
She put her bag in the overhead luggage cabin and sat down. I thought, she was disappointed, no reason why I was concerned. I asked her would you like to sit here, we can exchange.
“Oh, I would love that seat but why do you want to give that up”, she asked wonderingly.
I pulled my bag out from under the front seat and moved towards her seat. She stepped out into the aisle making way for me and we ended up interchanging our seats.
She continued to be puzzled, ” Why would you do that, aren’t we getting down at the same stop”. That called for a laughter and I said ” well, I being a gentleman always like to offer my seat to a lady”. That went down well and we had a good laugh over that.
” Jokes aside, I am curious, why”, she asked.
” Relax, if I have to come out to the aisle, I will have to sqeeze past these two seats, upsetting you all, I know you will silently curse me for that”, I said.
“now, you will curse me”, she said.
“Ya, it is easier to give than take one” I said.
“Don’t be impressed, I am being selfish, here I can stretch my legs, put one on to the side and take a walk without disturbing anyone and at night you cannot see anything out of the window except some flashing lights on the wings of the plane”.
A guy came to occupy the seat E and made a wall between us.
She leaned forward and said “anyway thanks, I shall try my best not to disturb you “.
The plane took off and we landed in Abu Dhabi around mid night. She kept her word, she did not disturb me , we just waved and boarded off the aircraft and headed towards the immigration.
Well, you may ask, what’s there to write about. At this stage of my life, I am collecting moments of whatever is remaining. Here were a few ( for me it was fun) exchanges with a stranger whom I may never meet again, added to my collection
